सहानुभूति
हैलीकॉप्टर से बाढ़ग्रस्त इलाके का मुआयना करते हुए नेताजी ने जाहिर की सहानुभूति। चंद ब्रेड के पैकेट, दवाएं,पानी की बोतल नीचे फिंकवाये। बिट्टू ने चिपके हुए पेट पर हाथ रखते हुए, कमर तक पानी में डूबे हुए तरबतर पिता से पूछा, "नेता लोग सहायता करने नीचे क्यों नहीं आते हैं?" डुबते घर की छत की तरफ नमभरी आँखों से ताकते हुए पिता ने कहा, "ई नेता लोगन को हमसे है सिर्फ सहानुभूति; पर इनको हमसे नहीं है समानुभूति....।"

कोई ऐसी ग़ज़ल लिखुँ
मैं सोचता हूँ कोई ऐसी ग़ज़ल लिखुँ, जिसमें काफ़िया, बहर की बखुबी बंदिशें हो; पर... मिसरों को उसूलों में बाँधना मुझे नहीं आता, जज्बातों को मीटर में बाँधना मुझे नहीं आता। मैं सोचता हूँ कोई ऐसी ग़ज़ल लिखुँ, जिसमें संघर्षमयी जीवन की परीकथा-सी दास्तां हो; पर... हकीकत को पर्दे में रखना मुझे नहीं आता, जहां को भ्रम में रखना मुझे नहीं आता।
