There was a time in movies when we used to see heroines only dancing around the tress with the hero and there were no lead roles were given to an actress in the movies.

There were only men oriented movies in which the actress had to do some dancing numbers in the chiffon sarees or to play as a sanskari bahu or beti characters and except that the whole story revolved around our hero who usually saved the actress from some kind of bad men and she only had to scream like "bachao" and show as an "abla" naari in the movie.

But in today's scenario things are changing. Now in bollywood we can see women oriented movies as well as actress playing the lead roles in the movies, like Kangana Ranaut, Vidya Balan, Tapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar, Deepika Padukone and many more.

As cinema took inspiration from real life stories we can proudly say that women are bringing change in every field.

Movies like Dangal, Mary Kom, or Chak De India show us how girls are making a path in the games which were earlier supposed to be only men's field, like Boxing, Wrestling, Hockey or Cricket.

Recently released movie "Thappad", "Sand ki Ankh" and "Chhapaak" are some movies in which the leading ladies are giving us some major impactful messages about the society and it's hypocritic thinking.

One major issue which yet to be solved is not paying equal to the leading ladies in comparison of the actors. As we all know they all have to do equal hard work and equal script planning, then why not equal pay?

In cinema now, not only as actress and choreographers but women are contributing as producers, directors, writers and cinematographers as well, as you know Zoya Akhtar, Kiran Rao, Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das are the names which need no introduction anymore.

This is not a drastic change but it can be possible only by continuous efforts and hard work of these change makers. It's not like that their path was always smooth but they too have faced many challenges in their lives.

They too have faced gender discrimination, sometimes because of their dark or dusky complexion, for not having a perfect zero figure they faced body shaming also, and also for being a woman only.

But they didn't give up on their dreams and established themselves as some of the milestones.

Today cinema is changing and doing an impactful work by showing the real struggles of women and this bringing a positive change in the society.

Nowadays parents are supporting their girls to choose the work of their choice and thinking out of the box as they want.

A day before one big fairness brand company and a famous online wedding website has also decided to remove the word fair and white from their products and also to remove all the face filters who always show that being dusky is a sin or don't fit in the beauty measures decided by our society.

So let's hope we will see more women like them who will bring more creative and innovative piece of work and will bring some more positive changes in the society.

This is great to see that cinema is changing for good now.
