Japan’s Yumi Ishikawa started a movement called #Kutoo which loosely means ‘kutsu’(shoes) and ‘kutsuu’ (pain). She is said to be inspired by the famous #Metoo movement. Yumi is a 32year old woman and she worked as a part time attendant in a funeral parlour. She started this campaign because she was forced wear heels at work. In Japan, it’s a part of the dress code at work place for women to wear high heels.

This #Kutoo movement has gone so viral, that it’s as if almost every woman out there was waiting for someone to just start this wave. From being about “not wearing heels to work” it’s gone to almost various types dress codes that are bizarre and women are forced to do it out of professional obligation. Celebrities and impressionable women across the world have been supportive of this cause. Even men, have started wearing heels and campaigning against this dress code.

It’s time men understood how difficult and painful it is to walk around in high heels all day long at work. Wearing high heels for long hours causes muscle strain, bunions and lot of other serious diseases in the long run.

Yes, heels are fashionable and I love them too. But probably to wear to a party or on some special occasion for a few hours and not for 10-12 hours every single day for the rest of my life!
