River Conservation: Requirements and Measures

The water flowing in rivers is like blood flowing in the arteries of the earth. If blood gets polluted in the body, or there is lack of blood, then in such a situation, many diseases arise in the body. In the same way, our earth, which we call mother, seems to be sick. Many problems such as untimely rain, unseasonal sun, drought, flood, earthquake, climate change and global warming are the symptoms of its disease. If these problems continue to increase, like any seriously ill person, it will not take any time for the end of the earth to come.

In such a situation, we have to find basic measures to conserve the rivers and put them into practice. Let us consider some basic measures and take the help of their implementation: -

 1. The main reason for pollution of rivers is the waste dumped in them. Whether that waste is industrial or discharged from our house is harmful for the river in both the situations. So we have to find other ways of waste management, such as recycling the waste and generating energy from it. . New waste management system should be adopted by scientific methods. By doing this we will be successful in giving life to many rivers like Yamuna and Ganga.

 2. There is a need to run a tree plantation program on the banks of rivers near the area where we live. Trees help in damming of rivers and keep them Sadanira. At the same time, trees will benefit the environment there, thus by planting trees on the banks of rivers, we can provide double gift to the environment.

This program is being done on a large scale on the banks of many rivers. Like, the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan got it done on the banks of Narmada River. Shri Sadguru himself is engaged in this work on the banks of river Ravi.

 3. Along with plantation, we should also run a cleanliness drive in our adjacent rivers. By which their banks will be clean and their life will increase. And our life is also from the life of rivers.

 4. Almost all the rivers in India have shrines on their banks. The waste generated due to tourism in those religious places will increase pollution by going to the rivers. Therefore it is better that we spread the waste at least through small efforts ourselves. And cooperate with the government in river conservation programs.

 5. Many efforts of the government are at work in this area, such as Namami Gange Campaign, Narmada-Sanitation Campaign etc. As responsible citizens of the country, it is our duty to support and cooperate with the government in this task. If the government adopts laxity in this work, then keep on giving it its responsibilities from time to time.

The economy of the country depends on the rivers, lifestyle etc. This is the proof that all the prosperous cities of the countries are located on the banks of the Sadanira rivers. Whether it is Delhi on the banks of Yamuna or cities like Prayagraj and Banaras settled on the banks of Ganges. The prosperity of cities like Mumbai, Chennai is also dependent on the great water resources like the sea.

In such a situation, we cannot ignore the pollution of the rivers, the problems created on them. In this area, we will have to take part in basic river conservation program from basic efforts…
