Dhritarashtra's foolishness

Duryodhana and Shakuni went to persuade Dhritarashtra to invite gambling to the Pandavas. Shakuni said, "Rajan, Duryodhana is drying up with sorrow and worry. You don't care about his unbearable grief. Why so?

Dhritarashtra loved his son very much. He immediately told Duryodhana, "Son Duryodhana!" What causes you to be sad and worried? You have got all the comforts, you have got all the disciplines. You are the successor of the throne. What hurts you then? I don't see any reason for your sorrow even after thinking a lot. "

Duryodhana replied, "Father, the power of our enemy Pandavas is steadily increasing. Their capital is full of huge buildings, magnificent markets and wealth. After seeing it, I have no satisfaction in seeing my wealth. Rajan! The Pandavas are flourishing day and night, while we are becoming weak.

Dhritarashtra said, "Son you will become the owner of this kingdom after me. Do not hate the Pandavas. Only misery and death will be gained by hating them. They have not done us any harm. Is their happiness not our happiness? "

Duryodhana did not like his father. He gave the exhortation of Acharya Brihaspati after exhorting his father to learn practical and political art, "where tolerance and satisfaction are necessary for the common man, they are not the qualities of a king". Shakuni intervened in the conversation. In front of Dhritarashtra, he planned to play dice with Yudhishthira.

Duryodhana said, "Shakuni will win my kingdom, property for me without fighting the Pandavas. You only send the invitation to Yudhishthira to the game. Dhritarashtra said, "Your suggestion does not seem appropriate. We should take Vidur's opinion on this subject, he will give the right opinion. "

Duryodhana was opposed to taking advice from Vidur. He said, "You know Vidur does not like me, he favors the Pandavas, so there is no need to seek opinion from him."

Dhritarashtra said, "Pandavas are powerful. It is not fair to resent them. The play of dices will only increase mutual enmity and hatred. We should not do this. "

But Duryodhana stuck to his stubbornness. He said that the lost opportunity does not come again. Kshatriyas have been playing dice since ancient times. If we achieve our goal without bloodshed, then what is the harm in it?

Dhritarashtra said, "Son, I am old now. Do it just as you think. But what you are going to do is not right in my eyes. You will regret it later. "

Eventually Dhritarashtra gave his consent and ordered to prepare a special room for the game. Despite this, he secretly consulted Vidur in this matter. Vidur said, "Rajan it will create such hatred that the destruction of the Kuru dynasty is certain. Dhritarashtra considered it to be a law of law and kept quiet. He went to Vidur and ordered Yudhishthira to invite the game of dices.

Yudhisthira got worried after seeing Vidur in Indraprastha. He asked, "Are all our relatives in Hastinapur efficient?" Is Dhritarashtra and our brothers healthy and happy? "Vidur said to Yudhishthira:" All the people in Hastinapur are fine, I have come to invite you to see the newly constructed chamber of dice game from Dhritarashtra. A beautiful chamber has been constructed there. Dhritarashtra wants you to come with your brothers, look at him, play dices and then return to your capital.

Yudhishthira told Vidur, "The game of gambling causes controversy among Kshatriyas. The wise man will try to stay away from him. We always follow your advice. What do you recommend to us? "

Vidur replied, "Everyone knows that the dice game is the root of many evils." I strongly opposed it. Nevertheless the king has ordered me to invite you and I have come here. Do what you think is appropriate. "

Despite this warning, Yudhishthira went to Hastinapur with his brothers and family. It may be asked why the wise Yudhishthira accepted the invitation. There can be three reasons for this. People move towards their destruction, driven by greed, gambling and alcohol. Yudhishthira was fond of gambling. According to the Kshatriya tradition, etiquette and prestige were advised not to reject Yudhishthira Dansa's invitation to play. Vyasa then warned them that the dispute would lead to the destruction of the Kshatriyas. Yudhishthira did not want to cause any controversy. He feared that Dhritarashtra and his sons would feel humiliated if they refused the invitation. Apart from this, Yudhishthira loved dice and had a natural desire to play. All these reasons led Yudhishthira to Hastinapur.
